Master
Literature and Civilization – Intercultural Dialogue in the Francophone World is a research-based master’s program taught entirely in French, open to international Francophone students.
The program continues to train students in literary research, providing them with methodological tools and specialized knowledge in the fields of French literature and civilization, Francophone comparative studies, and literary translation. Students study contemporary French literature, Belgian, Canadian, African, Romanian, and Swiss literature written in French. These are complemented by courses on current topics such as ecocriticism, gender studies, postcolonial studies, and creative writing.
Master’s students benefit from inter-university mobility (Erasmus+, CEEPUS, and others) and various extracurricular activities related to the book industry (workshops, literary juries, translation competitions, meetings with Francophone writers, etc.). The skills acquired can be directly applied to university research; they can also serve as a bridge to specialized professional training in education, translation, public relations, and book-related professions. The master’s degree is approved by school inspectorates, and graduation allows teaching at the high school level. It is also a good introduction for those who wish to enroll in a doctoral program.
Multilingual and Multicultural Communication
The professional master’s degree in French, Italian, or Spanish is aimed at graduates with a bachelor’s degree in philology or other humanities subjects who have a good level of language proficiency. The program includes core courses in Romanian and courses in literature and translation in French, Italian, or Spanish (depending on the option chosen by each candidate upon admission), an introduction to other Romance languages, as well as professional internships in partner institutions in the fields of translation, book publishing, and cultural mediation and management.
Students in the program can participate in long-term Erasmus+ mobility programs at partner institutions for each of the department’s bachelor’s programs, or in short-term mobility programs within BIPs (Blended Intensive Learning Programs).
Graduates of the program are trained for various careers in the field of literary translation and beyond, including text editing, linguistic or literary research, and cultural mediation.
Current trends in linguistics
The advanced research master’s degree in English, French, and Romanian is open to all bachelor’s degree graduates in the social sciences and humanities (philology, history, psychology and education, cultural studies, communication sciences, etc.) who are interested in the field of linguistics, and can be continued with a doctorate.
The program includes courses and seminars covering all contemporary approaches in general linguistics, in English, French, or Romanian. Students have the opportunity to participate in Erasmus+ mobility programs organized by the departments, in student scientific events, and to engage in advanced research alongside the program’s teaching staff.
